ELECTIONS in the USA/ Donald Trump gets the votes of voters under 30 years old
Donald Trump

Donald Trump has won votes among voters under 30, the traditional Democratic base.

NBC's exit polls bear this out, noting that Trump has garnered more votes from this bloc of voters than any Republican candidate since 2008.

Trump has received votes from young, mostly male, taking 47%, Kamala Harris just ahead with 49%.

He has also gained some ground among young women, but the Democratic lead remains large among this group, 62% to 36%.

For 4 out of 10 women, the main issue has been the protection of the right to abortion, while for only 11% of young men this is an important topic.

For them, the main issues remain the economy, with 37%, and the state of democracy, with 36%.
