Zelensky on Putin in Christmas message: Dead!
President Volodymyr Zelensky

President Volodymyr Zelensky has addressed a message to Ukrainians on Christmas Eve, saying that, "despite all the suffering it has brought," Russia is unable to "conquer" what matters most: the unity of Ukraine.

Zelensky has also expressed a wish for Putin's death, without directly mentioning the Russian president by name, calling it a "common dream" of Ukrainians.

“We celebrate Christmas at a difficult time. Unfortunately, not everyone is at home tonight. Unfortunately, not everyone still has a home. And unfortunately, not everyone is with us tonight. But, despite all the suffering caused by Russia, it is not able to invade or bomb what matters most. This is our Ukrainian heart, our mutual trust and our unity,” Zelensky said.

"Today we all share a dream. And we express a wish, for all of us. Dead! Each of us can think it out for himself. But when we turn to God, of course, we ask for something greater. We ask for peace for Ukraine, we fight for it. And we pray for it. And we deserve it," the president said in his speech at the vigil.

Meanwhile, despite the holy holiday, the war does not stop. Russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers have carried out a planned flight mission over the neutral waters of the Barents Sea and the Norwegian Sea, “ accompanied by foreign fighter jets in several areas ,” the Russian Defense Ministry announced. “ The flight duration was over seven hours ,” the statement said.

Russian Navy Su-33 fighter jets accompanied the long-range bombers.
