Volodymyr Zelensky

After arriving in Washington for a meeting with Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on social media expressing support for the US and its European partners.

Russia must end the war it started, Zelensky adds, expressing his belief that together with the US and the Europeans they will force it to make a just peace.

"I am grateful. We all share a strong desire to end this war quickly and reliably. Peace must be durable. I am convinced that we will protect Ukraine, ensure its security, and our people will always be grateful to Trump, America and every partner for their invaluable support and assistance. Russia must end this war, which it started itself. And I hope that our joint strength with America and our European friends can force Russia to make a real peace," he wrote.
