The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, has warned that the "Battle of Stalingrad" is being prepared again.
In the presentation of the book "The collected works of Milorad Ekmecic", the Serbian president expressed concern that this may come sooner than expected.
"I am afraid that the Battle of Stalingrad will indeed come sooner than anyone expected, and I am very worried about the outcome of that Battle of Stalingrad, for the first time in history, much more worried knowing what is going on it comes from one side and the other, not doubting anyone's courage", stated Vucic, reports Euronews Serbia.
He emphasizes that Serbia is facing a more difficult period than that of the 1990s and for the positioning of the Serbs.
"It remains to be seen what we Serbs will do, where we will be with ourselves, will we manage to protect the right and left bank of the Danube, for ourselves, for our people and not for anyone else, this should be the most important thing for us and that with that commitment and faith, we look to the future. In the end you will see who will behave, how they will behave and how bravely and courageously they will participate in that process, all this, regardless of what decisions we made, if I made them, will not change the fact that I am more afraid than ever of what is in front of Serbia", Vucic said.
With a total of two million casualties on both sides, Stalingrad is considered the bloodiest battle in human history.
In the Battle of Stalingrad in World War II, which took place from August 23, 1942 to February 2, 1943, nearly 2 million people died. This is known as the bloodiest battle in human history. Nazi Germany and its allies had fought to take control of the Soviet Union's city of Stalingrad, now known as Volgograd.
