VIDEO/ The Parliament in the Maldives turns into a 'boxing arena'!
Mohamed Muizzu

It has not happened in recent years that such scenes come from the parliament hall in the Maldives.

The issue of voting for new cabinet ministers of President Mohamed Muizzu has turned into a bone of contention between the opposition MPs and the majority.

Some of the opposition MPs climbed up to the speaker's desk and stood up in protest, which irritated the ruling MPs who tried to resolve the situation by force.

From this violent physical collision, one of the deputies received injuries and was sent to the hospital for treatment.

Local media reported that the microphones inside the parliament were removed to prevent MPs from using them as weapons against each other during their physical confrontation.
