Three U.S. soldiers have been killed and 25 others wounded in a drone strike in Jordan, the U.S. military said.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement that the casualties were caused by a drone strike on a base in northeastern Jordan, near the Syrian border.

U.S. President Joe Biden said the attack was carried out by "radical militant groups backed by Iran."

The most strident was the reaction of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, who has called for the U.S. to launch attacks on Iran.

In a tweet, he accused the Biden administration of failing to contain Iran. "Hit Iran immediately, hit it hard," he wrote.
