Bill Gates' name has been re-inserted into the Jeffrey Epstein files, following the publication of new documents that shed light on his relationship with the pedophile financier, who was found dead in prison in 2019. At the center of the allegations is a 2013 email sent by Epstein to himself, which mentions claims of Gates' venereal diseases, contracted from relationships with Russian prostitutes, as well as requests for antibiotics that, according to the document, would be secretly given to his wife, Melinda Gates.
Bill Gates has denied these allegations, calling them untrue, but the publication of new materials seriously jeopardizes his public reputation.
According to analysis, Gates' image has gone through three main phases.
Before the 2000s, he was seen as the tech genius who brought Microsoft and made the internet accessible to the masses.
In the following years, he was also perceived as a tough technocrat in business, ruthless towards competitors.
While in the first two decades of the 21st century, Gates became a symbol of global philanthropy, promising to donate over 99% of his wealth and investing around $100 billion in projects against poverty, disease, illiteracy and climate change.
However, it was during this period of glory, according to international media, that serious problems began to emerge in his private life. After 2020, the public became aware of allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior and tensions in his marriage, which led to his divorce from Melinda Gates in 2022.
Gates' dealings with Epstein came to light in 2019, following a New York Times investigation and Wall Street Journal reporting. It was revealed that Gates had met Epstein several times since 2011, despite the latter having been convicted of sexually exploiting a minor. The meetings included visits to Epstein's New York residence and trips on his private jet.
Epstein had attempted to involve Gates in the creation of a philanthropic fund, the Global Health Investment Fund, from which he would receive millions in commissions. Gates refused, and their relationship was severed in late 2014. However, several Gates Foundation associates, including physician Boris Nikolic, continued to have contact with Epstein.
According to the documents, Epstein allegedly tried to blackmail Gates by telling him about a secret affair he had in 2010 with Mila Antonova, a Russian programmer 35 years his junior. In 2017, Epstein allegedly threatened Gates that he would make the story public if they did not resume their relationship.
The latest release of documents, which mention Russian prostitutes and venereal diseases, is seen as another blow to the image of Gates, who is currently trying to maintain a lower public profile. It remains to be seen whether these will be the last revelations or just the beginning of a new wave of accusations.
