The Lebanese army has evacuated observation points on Lebanon's southern border with Israel and relocated to barracks in border villages, a Lebanese security source told CNN.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant previously told heads of regional councils in northern Israel that the "next phase" of Israel's war against Hezbollah "will begin soon."

The statement comes after the Israeli military declared a closed military zone around three towns in the far north on its border with Lebanon. There is a high expectation for a near-ground offensive in Lebanon.

While some reports suggest that the Israeli invasion has already begun, it has not yet been officially confirmed.

In a statement, the Lebanese group says it has retaliated by firing rockets at Israeli military positions in the occupied Golan Heights.

The group said it also fired a long-range anti-ship cruise missile at Kfar Giladi, a rural cooperative community known as the kibbutz, and said it also targeted a settlement in northern Israel with a "rocket salvo."

In a separate statement, Hezbollah said it had launched Fadi 1 missiles into areas north of Haifa.
