US President Donald Trump said he is unsure whether he will attend his eldest son's wedding due to commitments related to the situation in Iran.

During an event in the Oval Office on May 21, Trump was asked by reporters whether he would be present at Donald Trump Jr.'s wedding ceremony this weekend.

"He would like me to go," Trump said.

"It will be a small and private ceremony, and I will try to be there. But this is not the right time for me, because I am engaged with Iran and other important issues."

The American president added ironically that, regardless of the decision he makes, he will be criticized by the media.

"This is a no-win situation. If I go, they will attack me. If I don't go, they will attack me again with fake news," he said.

Trump also appeared to confirm reports that his son, 48-year-old Donald Trump Jr., will marry Palm Beach model and celebrity Bettina Anderson over the weekend.

The couple announced their engagement in December during a celebratory party hosted at the White House.
