United States President Donald Trump has declared that Iran has 48 hours to reach a deal or open the Strait of Hormuz, warning of severe consequences otherwise.
In a post on the social network Truth Social, Trump wrote that the deadline is running out, recalling his previous warning about Iran.
"48 hours before all hell breaks loose on them," he wrote, adding messages of support for his policy and the goal of preventing a nuclear-armed Iran.
"Remember when I gave Iran ten days to make a deal or open the Strait of Hormuz? Time is running out - only 48 hours left before all hell breaks loose against them. Thank God!" the US president wrote.
In another post, Trump also highlighted the impact of tariffs on the US economy, while linking this to efforts to limit Iran's nuclear program.
His statements come at a time of high tensions in the region, while the Strait of Hormuz remains one of the most strategic points for global oil and gas transportation.
