United States President Donald Trump stated that he had a very productive phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which, according to him, it was agreed that there would be no deployment of troops in Beirut.

He also stressed that talks with Iran are continuing at a "rapid pace."

In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump claimed that there will be no troop movements towards the Lebanese capital, while forces already on the way have been ordered to withdraw.

According to him, this was one of the conditions that Iran had set for continuing contacts with the US, with the aim of reaching a possible agreement to end the war in the Middle East.

At the same time, Trump announced that he had had communication, through high-level representatives, with Hezbollah, describing the conversation as positive. According to him, the organization has agreed to stop any form of armed attack.

"Israel will not attack them and they will not attack Israel," the US president declared, describing the development as an agreement for the mutual reduction of tensions between the two sides.

"I had a very productive phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu. There will be no troops going to Beirut and those that were moving have already been withdrawn. I also had a very good conversation with Hezbollah through senior representatives and they agreed to a ceasefire - Israel will not attack them and they will not attack Israel," Trump initially wrote.

A little later he added: "Negotiations with the Islamic Republic of Iran are continuing at a rapid pace. Thank you for your attention to this matter."

According to international media reports, no American president has previously communicated with Hezbollah, either directly or through intermediaries, as the organization is considered "terrorist" by the United States.

A Lebanese official told Reuters that Hezbollah has informed the United States, through the speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, that it is ready to stop attacks on northern Israel, provided that Israel does not bomb Beirut and its suburbs.

Earlier, Iranian authorities announced that they were ceasing the exchange of messages with the US as part of contacts to reach an agreement.

Shortly afterwards, Iranian state television reported that there was a high possibility that the ceasefire between Iran and the US would end if Israeli attacks on Lebanon did not stop. President Trump initially stated that he was unaware of this development.

"To be honest, I think we're talking too much. I think silence would be very helpful and it could go on for a long time. That doesn't mean we're going to start dropping bombs everywhere. We're just going to keep quiet. We're going to keep the blockade. I think I can wait as long as they want. They're the ones who are losing a fortune," Trump said in an interview with NBC News.
