Democrats in the US House of Representatives will seek a further vote on a resolution to limit the use of military force in Iran, New York Democratic Representative Hakeem Jeffries, the House Minority Leader, announced on Wednesday.
"All we need is one or two more Republicans, and I think we're on track to get them," Jeffries said. "Congress must vote immediately to end Donald Trump's reckless war and prevent him from dragging us into World War III," he added.
Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer called Donald Trump an "extremely sick person" in response to the president's tweet threatening that "an entire civilization will end tonight" if Iran fails to meet his 8 p.m. Eastern Time deadline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
"Any Republican who refuses to join us in voting against this reckless war takes full responsibility for any consequences of whatever this may be," Schumer added.
