Despite Donald Trump's days of putting great pressure on Iran, where today he even said that if they do not open the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian civilization will die, Reuters reports that this pressure is not working in Tehran.
Iran will not reopen the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for "empty promises," a senior Iranian source said.
Reuters reported that the source said flexibility would be shown by Iran "when we see flexibility from the American side."
They add that Pakistan, which has been trying to broker a peace deal, continues to convey messages to the US, but Washington "has not changed its tone."
"If the US crosses red lines, Iran's response will extend beyond the region"
In a new statement, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it has shown 'considerable restraint' and 'care in choosing targets for retaliation' against the US and regional partners.
"From this moment on, all these considerations will be put aside," the statement distributed by state media said.
The IRGC also warned that if the US military "crosses red lines, our response will extend beyond the region," adding that it would target US and partner infrastructure and cut off regional oil and gas supplies for years.
Qatar sounds the alarm: The situation is getting out of control
A few hours before the expiration of Donald Trump's ultimatum to Iran and while attacks on bridges and highways in the Islamic Republic are already underway, Qatar warns that the situation is 'close' to a point where it can no longer be controlled.
Doha's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Majed al-Ansari, said: 'We have been warning since 2023 that an uncontrolled escalation will lead us to an uncontrollable situation, and now we are very close to that point. That is why we have called on all parties to find a solution, to find a way to end this war before it is too late.'"
