After President  Donald Trump announced yet another meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin , this time in Budapest, HuffPost magazine  reached out to his top White House spokespeople with a clear question:  Why Budapest?  But the White House's response was strange and has caused a media frenzy. 

HuffPost asked the White House:  Who chose Budapest?

In response, White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt responded a few minutes later with: “ Your mom did it .”

While White House Communications Director Steven Cheung added something much more concise a minute later: " Your mother ."

After HuffPost asked Leavitt if she thought her response was funny, she responded: " I find it funny that you consider yourself a magazine. You're a far-left guy that no one takes seriously, including your colleagues in the media, they just don't say it to your face. Stop sending me your dishonest, biased, and stupid questions ."

The Hungarian capital was the site of the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, in which Ukraine gave up thousands of nuclear weapons it had inherited after the collapse of the Soviet Union, in exchange for guarantees that Russia would respect Ukraine's territorial integrity.

Putin broke that promise with the invasion and annexation of Crimea in 2014, with his decade-long military offensive in the Donbas region, and then with his full-scale occupation in 2022.

He continues to kill Ukrainian civilians in their homes to this day with regular drone and missile attacks./ HuffPost
