At least 31 people were injured, including two children, as a result of an attack that a 41-year-old Syrian man undertook in the Ruhr area (Germany) on Saturday afternoon and evening, German police announced on Sunday, giving details from the serious event.

The Syrian armed with a machete caused violence and terror, as he set fire to a residential building and attacked shops with his van.

According to the fire department, the horror began around 17:10 in Essen-Altenessen. As the police reported, the Syrian set fire to a residential building on Altenessener Strasse/corner of Pielsticker Strasse.

He then drove to Zollvereinstrasse, where he set fire to another house.
