Former British ambassador to the United States, Peter Mandelson, was arrested by London Police on Monday on suspicion of abuse of office.
His arrest comes after recent revelations about the British lord's ties to the infamous Jeffrey Epstein.
Mandelson, 72, was sacked from the most prestigious post in Britain's diplomatic service in September when details of his connection to Epstein began to surface.
The Metropolitan Police launched an investigation into the former ambassador earlier this month after Prime Minister Keir Starmer's government published communications between him and Epstein.
Emails between the two men released by the Justice Department showed a closer relationship than had been publicly acknowledged, and Mandelson had shared sensitive information with the financier when he was a minister in the government of former Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
Earlier this month, the British lord had resigned from the Labour Party and from his position in the Upper House of Parliament.
Lord Mandelson is Epstein's "second victim" in Britain, following the sensational arrest of King Charles' brother Andrew Mountbatten last week.
