Queen Letizia's former brother-in-law, Jaime Del Burgo, has revealed that he was romantically involved with the 51-year-old before marrying her sister, Telma Ortiz.
Jaime Del Burgo, 53, who is currently in Britain, has recently spoken about journalist Jaime Penafiel's book "Letizia & I", in which he recounts everything that happened between him and Queen Letizia.
Del Burgo, currently an entrepreneur and the son of former politician Jaime Ignacio del Burgo, was married to Letizia's sister, Telma, from 2012 to 2014. (After him, Telma married Irish lawyer Gavin Bonnar, who once was married to Sharon Corr).
In the book, Del Burgo says the couple dated even after Letizia married King Felipe in 2004. (Before marrying the king, Letizia was married to literature teacher Alonso Guerrero Perez in 1998-1999 ), foreign media report.
He says he met Letizia before 2000 and their relationship started with a romantic trip to Venice. Jaime Del Burgo was thinking of proposing to Letizia, but during a dinner in 2002, she told him she was dating a "mysterious diplomat".
As evidence to support the statement, Del Burgo posted a photo of Letizia on Twitter/X, which she later deleted.
Letizia is seen with a cashmere scarf in the bathroom mirror. The scarf was Jaime's and the Queen sent her the photo with a message: “Love. I put on your scarf. It's like having you by my side. Takes care of me. It protects me. I count the hours until we see each other again. Love you".
But it is not only that. According to the New York Post, Del Burgo also has photos, videos and cell phones that prove their romance.
Meanwhile, there is no reaction from the Royal Family of Spain, but a spokesperson for it said that "there is no comment on this".
