The Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic, said that KFOR has rejected Serbia's request to send Serbian security forces to Kosovo.

In mid-December, authorities in Serbia sent a request to the office of the NATO mission in Kosovo, KFOR, to send up to 1,000 members of the Serbian army and police to Kosovo.

In an interview for Serbian television, Pink, on January 8, he said that KFOR in its response said that there is no need to send Serbian forces.

"KFOR answered us that there is no need for our forces to return to the north of Kosovo and Metohija, as we expected, even though according to Resolution 1244 of the UN Security Council they have no right to reject our request because they they didn't ask about it," he said.

Vucic also said that it remains to be seen whether official Belgrade will turn to the UN and ask to be declared at the Security Council session.
