Aalborg Airport in northern Denmark has been closed after reports of unauthorized drones flying over its airspace.
Three other smaller airports in the south of the country — Esbjerg, Sønderborg and Skrydstrup — also reported suspicious drone activity, but were not closed.
The incident comes days after Copenhagen's main airport, Kastrup, was forced to close for several hours due to a similar incident. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen called it "the most serious attack on Danish infrastructure to date," adding that Russian involvement could not be ruled out — although the Kremlin dismissed the allegations as "baseless."
North Jutland Police said they were investigating the incident and did not rule out the possibility that the activity was a prank. According to them, some of the drones could be seen from the ground and, if possible, will be shot down.
At least three flights were diverted from Aalborg: two returned to Copenhagen and one was diverted to Karup. Authorities stressed that there was no risk to passengers or residents and urged the public to keep their distance from the airport area.
