Russia's Pacific Fleet fired two supersonic missiles into Japanese waters on Tuesday morning. The news was announced by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
"Two missile ships launched a joint attack against a naval shield simulating an enemy warship," the ministry announced in a Telegram post.
"The target was successfully hit at a distance of 100 km by a direct hit from two Moskit cruise missiles."
The maneuver came after Russia conducted drills earlier this month in the Sea of Japan, also known as the East Sea, with a submarine striking a land target more than 1,000 kilometers away with a Kalibr cruise missile, the same type Moscow regularly uses in the war in Ukraine.
