Russia adds Meta to list of 'terrorist and extremist' groups

Russia has added American tech giant Meta to its list of "terrorist and extremist" organizations, according to the Russian Federal Service and Financial Monitoring database. Meta is the parent company of global platforms Facebook and Instagram.

At the end of March, Russia banned these two platforms in its territory due to "extremist activities". The Russian authorities have accused Meta of allowing "Russophobia" during the "military campaign in Ukraine", a reference to the war launched in this country on February 24.

Meta pati thënë më 10 mars se platformat e saj do të lejojnë deklarimet si “vdekje për pushtuesit rusë”, mirëpo jo edhe kërcënimet kredibile kundër civilëve, dhe se këto ndryshime do të zbatohen për postimet që bëhen brenda Ukrainës.

Facebook dhe Instagram janë të paqasshëm në Rusi prej muajit mars, mirëpo shumë rusë kyçen përmes rrjetit privat, për t’i përdorur këto aplikacione.

Instagrami përdoret më shumë sesa Facebooku në Rusi dhe ka shërbyer si platformë kyçe për reklamim dhe shitje.

Në nivel global, miliarda persona i përdorin aplikacionet e Meta-s. Me vendimin e fundit, Meta në Rusi është në listë me talibanët dhe grupet opozitare ruse./REL
