The US State Department said the vote to oust the government of Dritan Abazovic in Montenegro constituted parliamentary democracy in action, whereby the people of Montenegro hold the government accountable through elected representatives.
The comment was in response to a request by VOA for a comment regarding the motion of no confidence in the government of Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic.
"The United States expects Montenegro to follow legal procedures for either the rapid formation of a new government to serve the country, or the calling of early parliamentary elections," a State Department spokesman said.
"The United States will support any democratically formed government that ensures Montenegro's progress on the Euro-Atlantic path, which includes accelerating EU membership, fighting corruption and organized crime, increasing its role in NATO , an inclusive and citizen-oriented society, and which continues to hold Russia accountable for its brutal war against Ukraine," the reaction continues.
In response to the question of the Serbian service of the Voice of America, whether the United States would support the inclusion of the pro-Russian Democratic Front party in a new government, the spokesman reaffirmed the position towards this force.
"As we have said before, the United States does not see the Democratic Front as a partner because it does not support European values, including the fact that it has not condemned Russia's aggression against Ukraine and has not shown leadership or willingness to make progress on reforms. key necessary for EU membership", said the spokesperson.
