Israel resumes airstrikes in Gaza, killing 21 people

Israeli airstrikes have killed 21 people in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli military has resumed deadly bombardments of the Palestinian enclave since Wednesday. Israel and Hamas accuse each other of violating a ceasefire, which was implemented on October 10 under US pressure after two years of devastating war.

On Saturday, the Israeli military announced that it had struck Hamas targets in retaliation for attacks on them in the southern part of the enclave. Israeli airstrikes killed at least 21 people in Deir al-Bala and Nuseirat.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said the army had killed five senior Hamas figures, accusing them of repeatedly violating the ceasefire by sending a terrorist into Israeli-controlled territory.

Hamas, on the other hand, denounced violations by Israel, which it accused of expanding the area under its control in the Gaza Strip beyond the borders agreed upon under the ceasefire agreement and of continuing the bombardment. According to the Health Ministry, 312 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire came into effect, which has been accompanied by several outbreaks of violence.
