Russia has carried out airstrikes on cities across Ukraine, including the capital, Kiev, killing at least five people.
A woman and a three-year-old child were killed in the city of Dnipro, local authorities said.
Three people died in Uman after rockets hit residential buildings, officials said. A nine-story residential building was also heavily damaged.
Explosions were also reported in the city of Kremenchuk and Poltava, according to the Interfax news agency.
In Kiev, 11 rocket attacks and two drone attacks were prevented by the air defense system, officials said.
The head of the military administration of the city of Kiev said this was the first time in 51 days that Russia attacked the Ukrainian capital.
There are still no reports of possible civilian casualties in Kiev.
The attacks come as Ukrainian forces are believed to be preparing a military offensive with new equipment, including tanks, given to them by Western allies.
Russia struggled over the winter to make progress on the battlefield and for 10 months has been trying to take control of Bakhmut, the Ukrainian city in the eastern Donetsk region.
