King Charles III's first state visit has been postponed.

The planned visit to France has been suspended due to violent protests that have gripped Paris and other cities against the government's decision to reform pensions.

The trip to Paris and Bordeaux was due to start on Sunday, but both cities were engulfed by scenes of violence, with citizens revolted by the government's decision to extend the retirement age.

The entrance to the town hall in the city of Bordeaux was engulfed in flames after Molotov cocktails.

Officials had previously insisted there were no known threats to the trip, but the worsening situation has led the new King of England to postpone his first official visit.
