" The couple never met. He would just pick up his kids from school. He was still bent over. When he walked, he looked at his feet. He looked desperate ," a neighbor described to Le Figaro, shocked by the terrible tragedy.
Noé B. , 33 years old, allegedly killed his wife, with whom he had been in a relationship for about fifteen years, and his four children, 9 months, 4, 7 years and 10 years old , in their home in
The mother, born in Haiti in 1988, and the couple's two young daughters received " a large number of stab wounds ," Meaux public prosecutor Jean-Baptiste Bladier said during a press conference Tuesday.
Personal discomfort and depression
The father of the family was arrested this Tuesday shortly before 08:00 in Sevran, in Seine-Saint-Denis, as he was leaving his father's house, where he had taken refuge.
The suspect, who was immediately sent to police custody, has not yet been able to be heard. He was actually hospitalized due to significant injuries to his hand.
At the time of his arrest, the 30-year-old, however, cited his "personal concern" and "his depression" to justify his action.
Born in 1990 in Colombes (Hauts-de-Seine) and holder of a CAP in plumbing, the thirty-year-old had been monitored for depressive and psychotic disorders since 2017. Prescriptions for "tranquilizers" were also found at his home, it said the prosecutor.
A stab at 2019
However, this man with a clean criminal record was known for domestic violence. To the press, Jean-Baptiste Bladier spoke of a "procedure involving the use of a knife" targeting the suspect, in the same house, in November 2019. His partner, now dead, was stabbed with a scapula, causing five days of ITT (total incapacity for work, editor's note).
At that time, Noé B. said he was depressed, one morning, he took the keys to the apartment so that "no one left". Then he repeated frantically: " You don't understand, you don't understand ".
According to the prosecutor's confession, his wife saw him with a bladed weapon, while he said that he wanted to commit suicide. As she left their room after trying to reason with him, he stabbed her.
During her hearing in 2019, the victim refused to file a complaint, specifying that she had only suffered "one slap" in the past, when the eldest of the couple was small.
In front of the investigators, the victim mentioned the "old" depressive state of her partner. The latter, at the time of the incident, had stopped drug treatment for " some time ".
A procedure was closed without further action
After this stabbing, Noé B. was nevertheless taken into custody by the police. But a psychiatric examination found his condition incompatible with such a measure.
Therefore, the accused was admitted to a psychiatric ward. On the day this hospitalization ended, on January 13, 2020, he was returned to police custody.
He claimed that he had not meant to harm his wife and that the stabbing was self-inflicted.
A second psychiatric evaluation concluded that his discernment was impaired. The proceedings were dismissed for "deficient mental state" on June 11, 2020, Meaux's prosecutor said.
What will happen now?
" At the end of the police detention, my prosecutor's office will open a judicial investigation for the intentional murder of 15-year-old minors and the intentional murder of a spouse ," explained Jean-Baptiste Bladier.
Noé B. theoretically risks life imprisonment. However, psychiatric evaluations could conclude that there was an alteration or even removal of his discernment at the time of the events. If necessary, he can be declared criminally irresponsible./Taken from Le Figaro adapted VoxNews .
