Four people died in a massive fire that broke out in a skyscraper in northern Hong Kong today.
Thick black smoke billowed from the buildings as firefighters battled the flames. Several people were trapped inside, while one man suffered severe burns, public broadcaster RTHK reported, citing police.
The fire department said it received a call at 10 a.m. about a fire at the Wang Fuk Court complex, and the incident was later upgraded to a level 4 alarm.
Wang Fuk Court consists of eight buildings and has nearly 2,000 apartments. Surrounding the tower where the fire broke out are other buildings with external bamboo scaffolding.
