After the assassination of the Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and the death threats against the head of the Polish government Donald Tusk, even in Belgium there were calls to shoot the head of the executive.

Politico reports that Prime Minister Alexander de Croi has filed a lawsuit against a local journalist who, during a radio show, allegedly urged listeners to shoot the head of government.

As reported by the Flemish public broadcasting network VRT, the radio host of local station Wagerem1 did not hesitate to say during his broadcast: "To all those who are thinking of shooting Alexander de Cro, but dare not because of the security that this has boy. You see it is possible to shoot a prime minister. So I would say: Go ahead!”.

In a post on Platform X, Barde Leitz, director of communications for the prime minister's office, said that "this journalist in particular called on listeners to open fire regardless of the security around the prime minister of Belgium."

He added that the journalist's words were spoken a few hours after the assassination of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, an event which he commented on live broadcast.

"Calling for violence is reprehensible. The complaint was submitted to the Varegem police. The Prime Minister is continuing his campaign as normal," said his spokesman.

In a statement, local radio station Wagerem1 said it had immediately suspended the presenter, arguing that he tried to make a joke but misjudged the timing and context and should not have made the joke.
