Minister of Internal Affairs in Kosovo, Xelal Sveçla

In the early hours of Sunday, September 24, 2023, the Kosovo Police was attacked in Banjska in Zveçan by masked, uniformed and heavily armed persons. From the terrorist attack, the sergeant of the Kosovo Police, Afrim Bunjaku, was killed.

A year later, the Minister of Internal Affairs in Kosovo, Xelal Svečla, tells "Top Channel" that the evidence provided proves that the terrorist group was supported by the state of Serbia.

"In one of these drones, there are recordings previously deleted, but returned by our training experts of this group in the official barracks of the Serbian Army in Paslonjske Livade", Svelça said at the beginning.

However, Sveçla is not satisfied with the work of the Special Prosecutor's Office, which has indicted 45 people, including Milan Radojciqi, as the organizer of the attack, for crimes against the constitutional order, terrorism, terrorist financing and money laundering.

He added: "It is surprising how the indictment does not include the officials of Serbia who were directly implicated in this case, when Paslonjske Livade is mentioned, where is its commander, where is its deputy commander, where is the commander of the Army of Serbia? With the equipment of the Serbian Army, Radojcic's group was trained, the recordings are public.

One year after the terrorist attack that, according to the institutions, was aimed at the annexation of the northern territory of Kosovo, the Minister of Internal Affairs says that the security situation is calm, but he does not overlook the possibility of other attacks.

Regarding the actions of the Kosovo Police in the north and the tests for the opening of the Ibri bridge, which are considered by international partners as unilateral actions, according to Xhelal Svecla, they were all achieved in cooperation with the allies and based on the laws in force. "Neither the tests nor the revitalization of the bridge were unilateral actions, they were all discussed with our partners".

The opening of the bridge that separated the city of Mitrovica, according to the Minister of the Interior, will be done very quickly and this will not cause tension.

"Their concern was the moment of the opening of the bridge, expressing a concern about the possibility of escalation. Our assessment is that there is no risk of escalation of the situation for the opening of the bridge", Sveçla concluded.

Regarding the return of Serbian police officers to the Kosovo Police institution, the minister says that there is no question, but adds that the process of their recruitment is continuing.
