Nikos Dendias, the former Foreign Minister of Greece, said in an interview for "Kathimerini", that the most dangerous of the crisis with Turkey was the departure of the Turkish research ship "Oruç Reis" in 2020, to which he added that both the countries were very close to the outbreak of war with each other.
Showing the behind-the-scenes of the events he experienced during his mandate, Dendias, detailed the incident at sea three years ago, an event that caused great concern on the Greek side.
Regarding the event at the time, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan himself reacted, saying: "We have been soft until now. However, Greece is not responding in the same way to our approach. If they continue this style, we will do what is necessary. We said: 'don't attack our Oruç Reis, if you do, you will pay a heavy price'".
