China has launched 71 fighter jets into the skies around Taiwan and Japan as part of a drill and then blamed the US for provocations and collusion with the island.
Sixty fighter jets were engaged in the exercise, including six Su-30 fighter jets, some of China's most advanced, Taipei's defense ministry said in a tweet on Monday.
The People's Liberation Army said it had conducted an "assault drill" on Sunday in response to what it described as unspecified provocations between the United States and Taiwan.

According to data from Taiwan's defense ministry, the drills in question were among the largest since they began publishing daily data.
Forty-seven of the flights crossed the island's air defense identification zone (ADIZ), the third-highest daily incursion on record, according to AFP's database.
We recall that self-governing Taiwan lives under the constant threat of invasion by China, which claims that the island is part of its territory, which will be taken one day.
In September, President Biden said that US forces would defend Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion. The statement brought strong reactions from China.
Beijing has increased military, diplomatic and economic pressure on Taiwan under President Xi Jinping, and relations have deteriorated.
