Shemë Mustafa, former police officer kidnapped by Serbia two years ago,

Shemë Mustafa, a former member of the Kosovo Police from Mitrovica, who was kidnapped by Serbian forces along with two other colleagues in June 2023, has passed away.

The news of his passing was announced by his family on social media. His burial will take place at the Shipol cemetery in Mitrovica.

Mustafa had been suffering from a chronic illness for a long time.

He served for years in the Kosovo Police.

We recall that three Kosovo Police officers were arrested on June 14, 2023 by Serbian forces in the north of the country.

The police described this as a "classic organized kidnapping" within the territory of Kosovo, while in Belgrade they were told that they were arrested by the anti-terror units of the Serbian gendarmerie within the territory of Serbia, in the municipality of Raška.

Kosovo police announced at the time that "they are suspected of being abducted by Serbian forces during a patrol in a place called Tresave/Bare, on the border line in northern Kosovo," in the municipality of Leposavic.
