Serbian Minister of Local Government, Snezana Paunovic, said in a new interview that she should have used a different terminology instead of the phrase “ethnic cleansing.” She said the correct word would be “deportation.”
"I probably should have said deportation, just to avoid so much criticism from all sides. But anyone who is reasonable understands what I was talking about, although unfortunately that term slipped my mind. At the end of the day, when you yourself have been the subject of ethnic cleansing, or almost happened, because they are still trying to do it, it is natural that the expression 'ethnic cleansing' remains in your mind because of what you have experienced," she said on TV Prva.
Paunovic has stated that he does not intend to resign unless the majority of the Serbian people demand it, while calling Kosovo's Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, a "terrorist."
"He was a known fighter of the terrorist KLA and killed and ethnically emptied the Dukagjini region. He was part of the forces that kidnapped people, took them to the Yellow House and removed their organs," she accused in the interview.
