Medvedev: The incident in Poland shows that the West is approaching world war

Former Russian President and long-term ally of Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Medvedev, has said that the explosion on Polish soil showed that the West was approaching another World War, according to The Guardian.

"The missile incident on a Polish farm proves only one thing: by waging a hybrid war against Russia, the West is approaching world war," Medvedev wrote on Twitter.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has repeated the claim that further training initiatives for Ukrainian forces under the EU flag are for "escalation" and marks "another step to increase the EU's involvement in the conflict in Ukraine".

Russia launched its latest invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, and in September it claimed the annexation of four regions of the country into the Russian Federation, following its 2014 invasion and annexation of Crimea.
