The round of Kosovo-Serbia talks in Brussels is closed, there is no tripartite

The separate meetings of the chief negotiators from Kosovo and Serbia in Brussels have ended, while the European side did not succeed in convincing them for a joint meeting.

The fact that there will be no tripartite meeting was confirmed by Besnik Bislimi, who met with Lajcak twice during the day. The chief negotiators held separate meetings with Lajcak during this Tuesday.

This is one of the attempts of the European side to organize a round of dialogue at the level of the chief negotiators, although there is still no confirmation if it will come to the joint meeting.

A European official informed about the meetings said that it is difficult to predict whether there will be a joint meeting and that everything will depend on the atmosphere that will dominate during the separate talks.

Besnik Bislimi, the chief negotiator of Kosovo, has already finished the separate meeting with Lajçak, which started at 9 o'clock and lasted almost 2 hours.

A similar meeting was later held by Bislim's counterpart from Belgrade, Petar Petkovic, the Serbian chief negotiator.

The day before, Peter Stano, spokesperson of the European Union, warned that in the next round, the ways to go forward with the implementation of the agreement reached in Ohrid in March 2023, as well as all other issues which according to Stanos, are influencing the normalization between Kosovo and Serbia.

The uncertainties regarding holding the joint meeting started as early as last Friday, when Kosovar chief negotiator Besnik Bislimi confirmed through social networks the readiness of the Kosovar side to hold the tripartite meeting, but that Serbia has rejected the mediator's agenda.

Some sources in the European Union have confirmed that there were misunderstandings about the agenda.

But these officials explained that both sides are responsible for the eventual failure to hold the tripartite meeting.

According to these sources, both sides tried to dictate the agenda of the tripartite meeting and did not agree with the mutual demands, while ignoring the original proposal of the European side./RTK
