American troops in Kosovo are well equipped and ready to prevent any attempt at violence. It is this great guarantee of safety offered by the commander from Texas, Colonel Ross Walker. For Reuters, he confirms that a lot of attention is being paid to the north, triggered by the last armed attack by a group of Serbs led by Milan Radoicic.

"We stand ready to react to any kind of situation and we are well prepared, trained and well equipped to respond to everything that can happen here", said the commander.

NATO has increased its presence with another 1,000 soldiers after the Banjska attack, where the hero Afrim Bunjaku lost his life in the armed clash with the terrorist group that entered from Serbia. More than 570 US soldiers are serving in the KFOR mission, which totals 4,500 troops.

"Personally, I have not met anyone who was so afraid of a new conflict here. But I think the key to changing that is dialogue. Although we are ready to react to anything, our desire is always to do things through a peaceful dialogue against any kind of violence," added Walker.

Some of the American soldiers are located in the "Nothing Hill" camp, near Leposavic and patrol the roads connecting Kosovo and Serbia. They park their trucks near the border with Serbia and then walk to the iron beam that signals the territorial division between Kosovo and Serbia. They patrol with only pistols, a sign of a calm situation.

Various experts and diplomats from the West warn that there may be tensions in the north of Kosovo due to the decision on the Serbian dinar, while Belgrade continues to refuse recognition of Kosovo's independence.
