A lawyer named Mark Zuckerberg is suing Facebook after the social network repeatedly shut down his page, claiming he was impersonating the company's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg.

Mark Stephen Zuckerberg, a lawyer in the US state of Indiana, says he has spent thousands of dollars promoting his services on Facebook, but his page has been repeatedly blocked by the social network.

Zuckerberg says his life has been turned upside down since he shares a name with the world's third-richest man, including receiving death threats and incessant tech support calls.

"It's not funny," he told local news channel WTHR. "Not when they're taking my money."

He said he had had the name Mark Zuckerberg "much longer" than the other Mark and was suffering from years of unfair closure of his account.

He said he had spent more than $11,000 on Facebook ads to promote his law practice, but that both his business and personal pages had been repeatedly taken down for "imitation of a celebrity."

Zuckerberg said it often takes months to restore his account, leading to loss of business, and that the company had violated "fair dealings" laws.

"I'd rather not fight them, but I don't know how to stop them," he said. "I don't know how else to get their attention."

Zuckerberg has been practicing law for 38 years, when Zuckerberg, the youngest and wealthiest, was three years old.

The Meta company said: "We know there is more than one Mark Zuckerberg in the world and we are managing to uncover this issue."

Zuckerberg said he would be happy if the billionaire Meta offered him a week on his superyacht. "[If he] would let me spend a week on his boat to apologize, I would probably take that," he said.
