Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez made an official visit to Ukraine, where he met with President Volodymyr Zelensky, who threw accusations at allies of Western countries.
Zelensky on Saturday accused some Western partners of dragging their feet on training Kiev's pilots to fly fighter jets.
"We agreed and the coalition of countries are ready to start training for Ukrainian pilots, but there is no schedule of training missions. I believe some partners procrastinate. Why do they do this? I don't know," said Volodymyr Zelensky.
During the joint conference, the Spanish Prime Minister declared that they will continue to support Ukraine regardless of the price, while promising an additional 55 million euros to help the war-torn country, including more Leopard tanks.
"We will support Ukraine regardless of the price to pay, because we will be with you in achieving your aspirations to be a free and sovereign country that decides its own destiny as a member of the European family. The process of becoming a member of the European Union taught us important lessons. One of them is that undertaking reforms has a value in itself" , he said.
Regarding the request to join the European Union, the Spanish leader added that the European Commission has recently issued an interim assessment on the status of Ukraine's candidacy, and that it is a positive report and shows significant progress.
His visit also comes ahead of a key NATO summit in Vilnius this month that is expected to determine the future relationship between Ukraine and the western military bloc.
