China has warned Taiwan of the risk of increased military activity around the island, saying the longer independence efforts continue, the more severe the consequences will be.

"The more Taiwan independence elements create trouble, the stronger the consequences will be for them," said Wu Qian, spokesman for the People's Liberation Army and armed police delegate during the National People's Congress.

He added that "there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an inseparable part of it. The one-China principle is a consensus accepted by the international community. The return of Taiwan to Chinese territory in 1945 was a result of the victory in the Chinese People's War and the World Anti-Fascist War, and this is an undeniable historical fact."

Wu also stressed that Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party authorities have intensified independence efforts, which have caused outrage on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and will bear responsibility for this from the perspective of history and justice.

In other news, China's Ministry of Defense announced that the navies of China, Russia, and Iran will hold the "Security Bond 2025" exercises near the Iranian port of Chabahar this month.

Activities will include attacks on naval targets, on-site control and arrests, as well as search and rescue operations. The aim of the exercises is to strengthen trust and military cooperation between the participating countries.
