Iran Threat to Trump's Plane, President Secretly Removed and Transferred to

US President Donald Trump has confirmed that he secretly changed the plane he was flying on to leave a NATO summit in Turkey last month after US security services identified a potential threat, the BBC reports.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Trump said the decision to change the plane was made by the Secret Service and the US military.

"I follow the instructions of the Secret Service and the military. They wanted me to travel on a different flight, on a different plane. I just have to do what they tell me," Trump declared.

The incident is related to the US president's departure from the NATO summit on July 8. Trump was seen by television cameras boarding Air Force One, but then, according to reports, he secretly left the plane by being transported inside a supply truck to a military aircraft.

The last-minute change of plane has raised questions about the safety of those on board the decoy plane. However, Trump said the military plane he ultimately traveled on was, according to authorities, "in greater danger."

According to US officials quoted by CBS News, the United States had detected a credible threat from Iran to strike the plane on which the president would be traveling with a missile.

Meanwhile, the New York Times reported that US intelligence had received information that a person near the site of the NATO summit had been seen with a portable rocket launcher that could be used from the shoulder.

Reporters and some White House staffers on the plane were unaware that Trump had been secretly removed from the plane. The operation was part of a prepared scenario to protect the president from a potential threat.
