The famous English singer James Blunt remembered the time when he served as a NATO soldier in Kosovo.
He has decided to bring this period of his life in the form of a documentary that will be shown in UK cinemas on December 6.
In 1999, Blunt volunteered to join a squadron of Blues and Royals deploying with NATO in Kosovo. Originally assigned to conduct reconnaissance missions on the Macedonia-Yugoslav border, Blunt's unit marched ahead of the front lines, locating and targeting Serbian forces. On June 12, 1999, the troop led the 30,000-strong NATO peacekeeping force from the North Macedonian border to Pristina International Airport. However, a Russian military contingent had entered and taken control of the airport before their unit arrived.
During Blunt's assignment in Kosovo, he brought along his guitar strapped to the outside of his tank and sometimes performed for locals and troops. While he was on duty there, he wrote the song "Pa trimeri". Blunt extended his military service in November 2000, and was posted to the Household Cavalry Regiment in London as a member of the Queen's Guard.
Did I ever tell you that before I was a pop star, I was in the army? https://t.co/7GquFVYTAW pic.twitter.com/Wh9KBqqjrW
