Former US Vice President Kamala Harris has given clear signals this week that she is working to keep another run for the White House alive in 2028, Axios reports.

Despite concerns from some Democratic Party leaders and donors that she may struggle to win the election, Harris continues to rank at or near the top in most preliminary polls for the 2028 Democratic primaries.

She also enjoys strong support from African-American voters, a crucial bloc in recent intra-party races.

After a period of withdrawal from the public stage earlier this year and then a book tour focused on the 2024 election, Harris took several moves this week that many Democrats see as the first steps of a new presidential campaign.

Meanwhile, other possible figures for 2028 were also present in Los Angeles.

California Governor Gavin Newsom held meetings with members of the Democratic National Committee.

According to Morning Consult polls, Harris consistently leads potential rivals, including Newsom, and even comes out ahead in a hypothetical showdown with Republican Vice President JD Vance.
