"We are seriously threatened by Russia", NATO chief warns: Increase
Mark Rutte

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte warned that Russia is spreading "airborne terrorism" and stressed that the alliance must seriously prepare for a possible military confrontation.

According to Reuters, Rutte is expected to request a fivefold (400 percent) increase in air defense capabilities to counter growing threats from Russia, especially in eastern Europe.

"NATO must immediately strengthen the shield that protects the sky. The danger is real, and we must be ready," he is expected to declare.

In addition to air defense, Rutte will call for a massive increase in military capacity, including thousands of armored vehicles, tanks and millions of artillery shells, Skynews writes.

Also, another key point in his speech is the doubling of logistical and medical support capabilities, to ensure that NATO forces are prepared for extensive and prolonged operations if the need arises.

Rutte's statement comes at a time of heightened international tensions, with the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine and deep concerns about potential instability in the Western Balkans and the Baltic countries.
