ISIS announces the death of its leader

The Islamic State, as the ISIS terrorist organization is otherwise known, has announced on its official Telegram channels the death on the battlefield of its leader Abu al-Hassan al-Hashemi al-Quraishi.

It is the second time in less than 10 months that the organization, which until 2015 controlled large parts of Syria and Iraq but is now hiding in deep areas of these countries, loses its leader.

The dead leader of ISIS had taken the place of Abu Ibrahim Al-hashemi Al-Quraishi in February, after the latter was killed in a bombing by US special forces in northern Syria.

The post of the former soldier of Saddam Hussein, who had taken the place of the founder Al Baghdati, in Iraq was taken precisely by Abu al-Hassan al-Hashemi al-Quraishi.

Very little was known about him, and even his true identity was a mystery. According to some Western intelligence reports, it was Iraqi citizen Bashar Khattab Ghazal al-Sumaida'i, also known as Haji Zaid.

Other sources identify him as Juma Aëad al-Badri, the elder brother of the founder al-Baghdati. In May of this year, his arrest in Istanbul was first reported, but the Islamic State has denied this fact.
