Formerly part of a criminal gang, the Mexican bride is arrested on her wedding

A woman in Mexico ended up spending her wedding day in a cell, handcuffed, after she and her groom were arrested shortly before the ceremony in a case involving extortion and kidnapping, allegedly on behalf of a drug cartel.

According to Protothema.gr, the bride named Nancy. N was arrested on December 22, the day she was scheduled to marry Clemente N's sweetheart, also known as "Raton."

Prosecutors released video and photos showing Nancy N. in a wedding dress and handcuffed, surrounded by police.

Although it was reported that the groom was sent with the bride to the ward, other media reported that he managed to escape. Also on the day of the wedding, six other men were put in handcuffs.

The gang is accused of lobbying poultry dealers near Mexico City and kidnapping four employees of a poultry store in Toluca. Many of the gang members had aliases, and prosecutors were able to determine each one's role in the extortion ring.

The suspects are believed to be linked to a drug cartel known as La Familia Michoacana, which has been accused of killing six people with a drone in southern Mexico in early January. According to authorities, this crime is part of a wider war between rival gangs for control of the area.
