Estonia will go "nuclear", the Kremlin treats it as a serious threat!

The Kremlin assessed on Friday that Estonia's declared readiness to receive NATO's stealth F-35A fighter jets, which can carry nuclear weapons, is a direct threat to Russia.

Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur told the Estonian daily Postimees on Thursday that Estonia, which borders Russia and is a rotational base for NATO aircraft defending Baltic airspace, is ready to accept these aircraft if necessary.

"If some of them, regardless of their country of origin, have the ability to carry nuclear weapons, that in no way changes our position on acquiring the F-35 aircraft," he said.

"Of course we are ready to welcome our allies," Pevkur added.

But Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said this would be a clear threat to Russia. "It would certainly be an immediate danger," Peskov told a reporter for Russian magazine Life.

He said the statement was one of many "absurd ideas" from politicians in the Baltic region.

"We practically have no relations with the Baltic republics because it is very difficult to aggravate them," he said.

Britain will buy at least 12 F-35A jets that can carry nuclear warheads, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said at the NATO summit in The Hague this week, adding that the planes would join NATO's nuclear deterrence air mission.
