The former prime minister of Italy, Silvio Berlusconi, has been declared innocent by the Court of Milan for the case known as "Ruby Ter".
The head of "Forza Italia" was accused of corruption in court documents, a crime for which the prosecution had requested 6 years in prison.
The judges acquitted former Prime Minister Berlusconi and the other witnesses, who were accused of corruption of court documents and false testimony, while according to the court "the fact does not exist" for these charges.
The ruling closes a six-year trial in which the Milan prosecutor accused the Forza Italia leader of paying guests nearly 10 million euros, from November 2011 to 2015, for their silence or lying.
We recall that Berlusconi was accused of organizing parties known otherwise as "Bunga Bunga" with underage prostitutes in one of his villas in Sardinia.
"I was finally acquitted after years of suffering, mud and incalculable political damage, because I was lucky enough to be tried by judges who were able to remain independent, impartial and fair in the face of the baseless accusations that were leveled against me." wrote Berlusconi after the decision.
Also, the court dropped the charges against all 28 other defendants, including Karima el Mahroug, known as "Ruby".
In a media statement, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni writes that "the declaration of Berlusconi's innocence is a good news that ends a judicial ordeal that has had weight in the political and institutional life of the country".
