A horrific event has shocked the public in Austria and Slovenia.
The body of Stefanie Pieper, the 31-year-old Austrian blogger who went missing from Graz on November 23, was found last Friday hidden in a suitcase in a forest in Slovenia. Authorities said her ex-boyfriend, also 31, admitted to strangling her and then showed police where he had hidden her body.

Pieper had disappeared after returning from a Christmas party. She initially texted friends to say she had arrived safely, but then expressed fears that someone had followed her to the steps of her apartment building. When she failed to show up for a scheduled photo shoot and was nowhere to be found, her family and colleagues immediately notified the police.

Investigations revealed traces of blood on a door frame, while witnesses reported an argument between Pieper and her ex-boyfriend on the Sunday of her disappearance. After the argument, the ex-boyfriend left with a bulky object, crossed the border into Slovenia and then returned to Austria. He was arrested on Monday, November 24, after attempting to set fire to his red Volkswagen Golf near the Mond casino in Sentilj, near the Austrian border.

The ex-boyfriend, Patrik M., was later extradited to Austria, while his father and brother have been arrested. Slovenian police dogs have also searched properties near Maribor belonging to the suspect's family.
The dramatic event has caused great public shock and is being intensively investigated by authorities in both countries.
