The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, stated that he is closely following the events that started with the revolt of the Wagner Group against the Russian administration and emphasized that this is an internal matter of Russia.

Michel, in a statement on his Twitter account, stated that the EU is closely monitoring the situation in Russia.

He emphasized that he is in contact with European leaders and G7 partners.

"This is clearly an internal matter for Russia," the senior European official added.

"Our support for Ukraine and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is unwavering," Michel reiterated.

Otherwise, tensions between Wagner and Moscow rose after the paramilitary group's founder, Yevgeny Prigozhin, accused the Russian military of attacking his mercenaries and threatened retaliation.

After this situation, the Russian authorities issued an arrest warrant against Prigozhin on the charge of "armed rebellion".

The Russian Ministry of Defense denied allegations of an attack on Wagner's camps.

In a statement this morning, the ministry called on all Wagner fighters to exercise restraint and contact law enforcement authorities.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a speech to the nation, accused Prigozhin of treason after the paramilitary group's forces crossed the border from Ukraine into Russia, entering the city of Rostov.

Russian authorities in Moscow and other cities have increased security measures in the wake of recent developments.

In recent months, Prigozhin has repeatedly accused Russia of not supplying enough weapons to the paramilitary group that fought alongside the Russian army in Ukraine.
