"For the first time I received death threats because I signed the cooperation protocol with Albania on immigration," said Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Rai public television.
"I will do everything to bring tangible results to this cooperation", Meloni added, referring to the two Italian centers for asylum seekers that have been set up in Albania.
"Some have set themselves the goal of hindering the fight against irregular immigration", emphasized the head of the Italian government.
According to her, the decision of the Bologna judges to ask the EU court to rule on the Rome government's decree on safe countries of origin for migrants "looks more like a propaganda pamphlet than a judicial document".
Commenting on the decision of two of the country's three largest unions, CGIL and UIL, to call a general strike against the draft budget, Meloni accused the unions of "prejudicial behavior".
She added at the end, that "the announcement of the strike was made a few days before her meeting with the government, regarding the draft budget of 2025".
